We’ve had our theater tickets for months! I’m a huge fan of Broadway musicals, and after hearing my daughter-in-law rave about WICKED, we coughed up the $$ for five tickets. Hubby and me, our son and daughter-in-law (Happy early birthday Allison), and our twelve-year-old grandson. The three-hour show was even better than all the hype, so without giving anything away—here’s what I learned from WICKED:
- The Emerald City is really, REALLY green. Dazzling, neon, hurt-your-eyes green!
- Having a best friend of another color is a “good” thing.
- Things are not always as they seem. Nor are people.
- Being swept up in an over-the-top fantasy erases the cares of the world, if only for a few hours.
- The world would be a lot more fun with more flying monkeys.
- Seeing the delight in my grandson’s eyes was totally worth the price of the tickets.
Hope you’ve all taken the time to do something fun this summer. I’m glad we did.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I have always been afraid of the flying monkeys.
And I love all things OZ...probably comes from growing up in Kansas.
I'm so excited that we have tickets--only I have to wait until the very last weekend! Our seats are on the 5th row, so maybe I should take sunglasses???
Shouldn't she have had green lips???
Those are better than movies!
One of our favorites! And I loved taking my daughter to see if for the first time last year. So glad you had fun.
Loved the post. Wicked is one of my all time favorite shows.
Thanks everyone for the great comments. Yes, Myra, on the 5th row you may want to wear sunglasses when the Emerald City comes alive!
Carmen--you're right. Definitely green lips. I just couldn't find the "right" picture on the fly.
D'Ann, taking my grandson to his first musical was a thrill for him and us. We were on the road the next day w/ the WICKED CD, repeating all our favorite lines and reliving the show. Memory making at its finest.
Erica--yep! Kansas is definitely Oz-land. You'd love the wisecracks in Wicked that refer to the Wizard of Oz movie.
Amy, glad to have you stop by. I hope you'll come back soon.
